Teachers Reminded the President of his Promise

President Rodrigo Duterte was again reminded of his promise to increase the salary of teachers which he has been bragging on some of his major speaking engagements. The Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC) made this reminder last Thursday and acknowledged the President’s will to sign the Executive Order No. 76 which will ensure the release of the 4th Tranche of Salary Standardization Law under EO 201 issued by former President Benigno Aquino III.

On the other hand, it is indeed true that the 4th Tranche will only add P575 to the salary of an entry-level position.

“What we want is a legislated salary increase of at least P10, 000 across-the-board. That is both to recognize the need for economic augmentation and a proper appraisal of the teaching profession,” stated by TDC.

“The leadership of the 17th Congress of the Philippines proved to be a huge disappointment for most teachers and education workers,” Alliance of Concerned Teachers (ACT) said.
