Teachers will receive up to PHP50,000 in case of injuries, and PHP200,000 up to PHP500,000 in case of death during the May 13 elections. These are for the 257,000 teachers under the Department of Education.
“It is commendable that the Department of Education has assured that the 257,000 teachers who will be serving as board of election inspectors (BEIs) in the 2019 mid-term election will be covered by a life and accident insurance,” senator Win Gatchalian said in a statement.
In spite of the provided insurance for teachers, it is still important to set maximum security for them while performing their duties.
