The current Enhanced Community Quarantine is set to end on April 14, 2020, Tuesday, and now the senators are considering to add another two more weeks as an extension.
Senator Franklin Drilon expressed his side being in favor to extend the said ECQ.
"We can consider relaxing ECQ during May 1 to May 30. Still no travel to and from Luzon. Still no malls, churches, mass gatherings," said Drilon.
According to him, the government must ensure that there would be enough supplies for food if this plan pushes through.
Senator Gatchalian shares the same sentiment. He stressed that the current ECQ will be deemed useless without the extension and the conduct of mass testing.
Senator Joel Villanueva also supports this plan of extending the Enhanced Community Quarantine as the number of positive COVID-19 patients continues to rise.
Moreover, Senator Recto believes that ECQ can only be lifted if the number of COVID-19 positive cases have already decreased.
