Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, Jr. clarified, through a press briefing, that the recommendation to suspend classes until December 31, 2020 is from the University of the Philippines and the President is yet to decide regarding this matter.
Roque also stressed that suspension of classes plays a major role to minimize the spread of the virus in the country.
"So malaki po ang maitutulong sa pagbagal ng pagkalat ng sakit kung isususpende ang mga klase hanggang college level," he added.
On the other hand, one expert says that suspension of classes may prevent the country from producing medical graduates and other health care professionals who are highly in demand because of this crisis.
