The Department of Education is already eyeing to provide all public school teachers in the country with laptops as preparation for the upcoming school year 2020-2021.
As the whole country is moving towards the "new normal" in education due to the COVID-19 pandemic, distance learning will surely be utilized by most of the schools upon its opening on August 24, 2020.
To implement this, DepEd Sec. Leonor Briones told the media that they are already eyeing to provide laptops for all teachers but it will require a huge chunk of funds.
DepEd Usec. Alain Pascua stressed that in order to provide all teachers with laptops, a budget of around P27 billion will be needed. According to him, many of the public school teachers have bought their laptops from their own pocket that makes the figure of teachers with laptops to be higher. But, Pascua said, “It is still the responsibility of the state to provide government-issued laptops."
