Numeracy is very important to our learners and it is our duty to make sure that they will be functionally numerates. It has become a trend that our learners are enormously afraid of numbers which became a major hindrance in attaining teaching goals especially in mathematics. Intermediate levels (Grades 4 to Grade 6) should then be focusing on the learning competencies intended for their grade levels yet they go backward by teaching them basic numeracy like how to use the four fundamental operations namely Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, and Division. However, we cannot blame the teachers in primary grade levels (Grade 1 to Grade 3) for they cannot fully control the learning habits of these young minds when it comes to numbers.
