The inter-agency task force or IATF made its recommendation to open the classes for SY 2020-2021 in September which was approved by the President.
However, the Department of Education clarified that this is only the recommendation from the IATF and not considered as the final schedule for the opening of classes.
According to DepEd, they will be presenting their recommendations to the COVID-19 task force on the first week of May for the said schedule which will be compliant to the law.
DepEd also reminded the public to wait for the final schedule and the plan on how the process of learning will be executed amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Here is the Official Statement of DepEd dated April 24, 2020, on the recommendation to open the classes in September:
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
On opening of schools for SY 2020-2021
April 24, 2020
The following is a verbatim report on the statement made by Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque and Acting NEDA Secretary Karl Chua:
PS Roque: So ibig sabihin the recommendation the earliest is September but subject to compliance with the law and recommendation of DepEd. Malinaw po iyon.
