Senate approved on its 3rd and final reading a bill allowing the opening of classes beyond August

With a vote of 23-0, the Senate has approved on its 3rd and final reading the bill which aims to give authority to the President to delay and reschedule the opening of classes in the country beyond August. This is still in line with the current crisis brought about by the global pandemic.

This bill (S.B. No. 1541) seeks to amend the  Republic Act 7797  or the "An Act to Lengthen the School Calendar from 200 days to not more than 220 class days" which clearly states that the opening of classes in the country shall be on the 1st Monday of June but not later than the last day of August. As the country is continuously fighting for the safety and well-being of all the citizens of the nation, passing this bill into law was urgently pushed.
